Unit Overview

"Events, conferences and exhibitions make up one of the fastest-growing and dynamic areas of travel and tourism. Although an industry in its own right, events, conferences and exhibitions is closely linked to other components of the travel and tourism sector, such as hospitality, transport and accommodation. This unit will enable you to investigate the trends and issues affecting the events, conferences and exhibitions industry, including the impact of web-conferencing and the growth of special interest trips and packages.

In this unit you will learn about the events, conferences and exhibitions environment in the UK, including different types of events and the range of customers served by the industry. You will investigate the many different venues used for events, conferences and exhibitions, plus the facilities needed to stage a successful event, such as suitable exhibition space, seminar rooms and audio-visual equipment. You will also learn how to produce proposals for events, conferences and exhibitions, giving attention to health, safety and operational factors. The unit also provides information on producing accurate costings for events, conferences and exhibitions".
